Little Acorns is our Nurture Group that meets twice a week.
On Friday 15th July we were joined by Sir Oliver Heald MP, Kevin Kibble the CEO of the Nurture Group (NG) Association, governors, parents and a variety of Community Councillors including the Mayor and Mayoress. The event was the formal presentation of the Marjory Boxall Nurture Group Award (MBNGA) for excellent practice in nurture provision across the school making us only the second school in the whole of Hertfordshire and one of 300 nationally to be accredited as such.
The prestigious Marjorie Boxall Quality Mark Award by national charity the Nurture Group Network is awarded to schools who demonstrate exemplary practice in their school nurture groups. Nurture groups are in-school, practitioner-led groups that help children overcome barriers in learning and support them to make the most of school and learning.
Nurture Group Network Chief Executive Kevin Kibble said: “Layston First School has evidenced its success in running an outstanding Nurture Group, and the beneficiaries of their hard work every day are the children attending the school, their families and the wider community. Our standards to achieve this award are exacting and many congratulations are due to the staff and pupils at the school”.
