School Dinners

We encourage all children to take school dinners.  The school meals are really excellent at this school and there is a wide range of meals which are changed daily.  The school cook, Mrs Game, gets to know all the children and is aware of their likes and dislikes.

Dinner money is to be paid weekly or half-termly in an envelope with your child’s name on.  This is to be paid on a Monday morning or on the first day of term and given to the class teacher.  Cheques should be payable to Hertfordshire Catering Ltd.  Alternatively, payment can be made online. The cost of a school dinner is £2.15.

Universal Infant Free School Meals

Do you have children who will attend Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 from September 2014 at your local school?
free school meals
If this is the case your children will be eligible for a freshly prepared hot lunch free of charge. The Government has introduced a scheme for Free School Meals for all children attending the first three years at school.
This is very exciting news and has fantastic benefits for children, parents and the schools. Not only are school meals delicious and healthy but also save parents more than £400 yearly per child.
This initiative is seen as a major scheme to improve eating habits in the young, with evidence showing a significant link between a good diet and a positive impact on performance at school. Pilot projects which tested universal free school meals showed that they give your child a real appetite for learning and help them to achieve their full potential.
Hertfordshire Catering Limited, the largest school meals provider in Hertfordshire, has been busy ensuring school kitchens are prepared to deliver the service in September at Hertfordshire’s schools.
Should you choose to take up this entitlement, your child will receive a hot, freshly prepared nutritious meal each school day, prepared by skilled HCL staff.
A copy of the menu that will be in operation from September 2014 can be accessed on HCL’s website, so you can see the choices available. For further details on eligibility, please contact your school.
