Friends of Layston School (FOLS), formally known as the PTA, is a registered charity (no. 1140983) and the school fundraising group dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of all of Layston pupils.
Run entirely by volunteers, we work closely with the school community to raise funds for additional resources, enrichment activities and memorable experiences that enhance learning beyond the classroom.
In recent years, we have helped fund whole-school science workshops, as well as immersive class-based experiences including Roman Day, Anglo-Saxon Day, Fire of London Day, a History of Toys workshop, and animal encounters for our youngest pupils.
We have also contributed towards Year 4 school play costumes, author visits, class Christmas parties, and a variety of other special treats and activities throughout the year. These opportunities help enrich the children’s education, create lasting memories, and make school life even more enjoyable
As well as supporting educational experiences, we organise a range of fun fundraising events throughout the year. Highlights include welcoming Father Christmas to our annual Christmas Fayre, school discos and the ever-popular chance to throw wet sponges at teachers in the stocks during our Summer Fayre! These events bring the school community together while helping to raise valuable funds for the children.
We are always keen to welcome new volunteers and hear fresh fundraising ideas. If you have a suggestion, would like to get involved, or can offer support in any way, please get in touch by email. Whether you can spare a little time or a lot, every contribution helps us provide even more opportunities and experiences for the children at Layston First School.
